V60 Coffee Ratio Calculator

Calculate V60 coffee grams with a 1:16 starting ratio, then move into the timer, guide, or journal.

Use about

15 g

≈ tbsp: 3

V60 is sensitive to small dose changes, so keep the ratio boring and tune the pour. Start at 1:16: 15.6 g coffee for 250 ml water, 18.8 g for 300 ml, or 25 g for 400 ml.

Use a medium-fine grind and water around 94 °C. If the cup is sour and fast, grind finer or pour slower. If it stalls and tastes dry, grind coarser before changing the ratio.

Once the dose is set, follow the V60 recipe, use the brew timer, and log the drawdown in the journal. The useful comparison is not just grams, but grams plus finish time.

V60 ratio FAQ

What is a good V60 ratio?

1:16 is the calm starting point for most coffees. Lighter roasts can handle 1:16 to 1:17, while darker roasts often taste better around 1:15.

Why did my V60 dose change the brew time?

More coffee creates a deeper bed, which slows drawdown. If you scale up a V60, expect to adjust grind slightly coarser.
