Common questions
- How do I make coffee at home without a machine?
- A French press or AeroPress needs only hot water and ground coffee — no electricity or pods. Both produce a full-flavoured cup in under 5 minutes and cost less than an entry-level drip machine.
- What equipment do I actually need to start brewing?
- A grinder, a kettle, a brewing device (French press or AeroPress), and a kitchen scale. The scale is the most overlooked item — guessing by tablespoons produces inconsistent results. Everything else is optional.
- What is the golden ratio for coffee?
- The Specialty Coffee Association's golden cup standard is approximately 1:18 (55 g of coffee per 1 litre of water). In practice, 1:15–1:17 is a more common starting range for home brewers who want a fuller cup.
