What is a simple morning coffee routine?

Quick answer

Repeat the same dose and timing on weekdays so you troubleshoot taste, not procedure. A practical default: 15 g coffee, 240 ml water (1:16), 30 s bloom, 2–3 min total brew on pour over or V60. Change one variable per week if needed.

Why routine beats random scoops

Morning coffee fails when everything changes — different scoops, different grind, rushed pours. Lock in numbers first; adjust grind or ratio only after three similar cups.

Common questions

Do I need pour over? No — French press at 1:15 for four minutes is an equally valid routine.

Too slow on workdays? AeroPress in under two minutes; see the AeroPress recipe.

Pre-ground OK? Yes — buy grind labeled for your brewer and keep the ratio fixed.
