How do you brew AeroPress coffee?

Quick answer

15 g coffee, 210 ml water (1:14), water 88 °C (190 °F), medium-fine grind. Pour, stir 10 s, steep 60 s, press over 30 s. Makes one strong cup — dilute with hot water for Americano style.

Standard vs inverted

This recipe uses the standard method (filter on, plunger sealing chamber). Inverted method is fine — same ratio; flip and press when ready.

Step by step

  1. Insert filter, rinse, add grounds.
  2. Pour 210 ml, start timer, stir gently.
  3. At 1:00, attach cap and flip onto mug (standard) or press (inverted).
  4. Press steadily until hiss.

Common questions

Why is AeroPress sour? Grind too coarse or steep too short — add 15 s or grind finer.

Can I make espresso with AeroPress? It's concentrated, not true espresso — use more coffee, less water (1:6–1:10) for a shot-like cup.

AeroPress vs French press? AeroPress = cleaner, faster; French press = heavier body. See comparison for immersion vs percolation.

Run the AeroPress timer.
