What is arabica coffee?

Quick answer

Coffea arabica is the species behind most specialty coffee — generally sweeter and more aromatic than robusta, grown at higher altitudes, lower caffeine per bean. Labels like "100% arabica" mean species, not automatic quality.

Buying for home brewing

Look for roast date, whole bean if you have a grinder, and a roast level that matches your method — light for pour over, medium-dark for press and moka.
