Cold Brew Coffee Ratio Calculator

Calculate cold brew concentrate at 1:8, then plan dilution, batch size, and journal notes.

Use about

30 g

≈ tbsp: 6

Cold brew is batch math. For concentrate, start at 1:8: 60 g coffee for 480 ml water, 100 g for 800 ml, or 125 g for 1 liter. Dilute the finished concentrate with water or milk when serving.

Use an extra coarse grind and steep 12 to 18 hours in the fridge. If the finished coffee is heavy or bitter, shorten the steep or grind coarser. If it tastes weak after dilution, use less dilution before changing the brewing ratio.

Use the full cold brew ratio guide for the steep and filtering steps. Log the batch in the journal with steep time, grind, and dilution, because those three details matter as much as the starting ratio.

Cold brew ratio FAQ

Is 1:8 ready to drink?

Usually no. 1:8 is a concentrate. Start by diluting it 1:1 with water or milk, then adjust to taste.

Can I use a French press for cold brew?

Yes. Brew in the French press, plunge gently after steeping, then pour through a paper filter if you want a cleaner concentrate.
